Free live online workshop 45 minutes

You want to change careers.
How do you choose a direction worth exploring?

You may already have a few ideas. But how do you tell which ones fit your life, which ones are possible, and which ones you have ruled out too soon?

You don’t need to know your next career before you can start exploring it.

Maybe an idea keeps coming back to you. Perhaps you have two or three and don’t know how to choose. Or you keep dismissing every possibility before you have found out much about it.

This session will give you a way to examine a career direction without having to commit to it first. We’ll look at the work itself, the route into it, and the practical things your next career needs to support.

What have you already ruled out?

A promising idea can disappear behind a thought that sounds like a fact.

“I’d have to start from scratch.”
“I’m not qualified.”
“I couldn’t afford to change.”
“No one would hire someone like me.”

Some concerns point to real limits. Others are predictions that haven’t been checked. We’ll look at how to tell the difference and what to investigate before you dismiss a direction.

A useful first step, in 45 minutes.

Bring one career idea if you have one. If you don’t, you can work from the kind of work you’re curious about.

01

Look for the right clues

What do you want more of in your work? What are you good at but no longer want to do? We’ll look beyond job titles at the work and life you want.

02

Check the story you’re telling yourself

Take one reason you’ve ruled out an idea. We’ll separate what you know from what you’re assuming, without brushing aside genuine financial or family responsibilities.

03

Put a direction to the test

Look at the daily work, a possible route in, and your practical needs. Then choose a small action that could tell you whether this idea deserves more attention.

Leave with a question you can answer in the real world.

An example

“I might like this career, but I’d probably have to start over.”

“Which parts of my experience would count in this field, and what would I need to learn?”

That question gives you something useful to investigate.
